50 Years of Taking Sad Stories and Giving Them Happy Endings
This year marks a milestone for World’s Children as we celebrate our 50th anniversary. Over the past 50 years, World’s Children has supported approximately 45,000 children through the caring sponsorship of thousands of people. These children are now educated and empowered adults who are freed of the poverty and illiteracy of their parents and are making a difference in their communities.
World’s Children was founded in 1965 by the late Edwin and Mable Purviance who turned their own personal grief at losing a child into something positive for thousands of children. Their belief in nurturing children in a healthy and loving environment has been a key foundation of World’s Children. Forsaken children who came out of desperation are gaining a new life with opportunities they never dreamed they could have. All because of you!
Over the course of this year we will increase our effort to inform you about the children you sponsor and what they think, what they aspire to do, and what their daily lives are like. We will share this through printed newsletters, but much more will be included in blogs like this one, e-newsletters, and Facebook posts. Stay tuned; we’re getting some great essays and drawings from the kids in honor of our 50th year.
We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to World’s Children over the past 50 years. We are grateful for your support, trust and loyalty, because when it comes to changing a child’s life, we truly are stronger together.
With love and blessings,
