The St. Joseph's Kitchen Project is finished! Sister Felicita Mary and the 76 children living at the St. Joseph’s Home for Children in south India send their thanks to everyone who donated to this wonderful new kitchen building. The building was dedicated and immediately opened at a ceremony on February 24, 2011.
As you may remember, the previous building was more than a half century old and was unsafe for children and staff. The ceiling plaster was falling in the kitchen and in the rooms where the staff slept. The building lacked ventilation for the wood fires that cooked the children’s meals. And the walls, inside and out, were moldy and cracked. Because there were few windows the entire building had a gloomy atmosphere about it.
