Bethel Orphanage Gets a New Computer Lab

When the Bethel Orphanage in India asked World's Children to pay for a computer lab in their school we grilled them to be sure they could maintain a lab and teach the children how to use a computer. We have visited too many schools in India where donated computers are stacked in a corner, unused either because no one knew how to use them or because moisture or dust had destroyed them.

When the Bethel sisters told us they had dedicated a school room as their computer lab complete with dust-proof windows and doors and that two of the sisters had already taken comprehensive computer training, we knew they and the children deserved the computer lab they so badly wanted.

World's Children asked our sponsors to donate toward the lab during our fall 2009 fundraising campaign. They responded by giving more than $5,000 to purchase five computers, five computer desks, a laser printer and Universal Power Supply units to protect the computers from power surges and blackouts. The Bethel Orphanage computer lab opened in September 2010 and it’s now the most popular room in the school.
