John's Story

Many of our sponsors have supported children faithfully for many years.

John first began sponsoring children in 1979 with a child at the Fatima Home in Tamil Nadu, India. He has sponsored children at Fatima ever since and now supports children at four other homes as well. When I learned of his lifelong desire to visit India and meet his sponsored children, I invited John and his wife JoAnn to join me for the first leg of my India trip in January 2010. Because so few sponsors ever have the opportunity to visit our orphanages, I asked John to write about his experience.

John Goes to IndiaI’ve never experienced such an outpouring of love. I had wanted to visit India for as long as I can remember. What I experienced in India justified all my hopes and expectations. I have to say that I have never before seen such a happy group of children, nor have I ever experienced such an outpouring of love. The people of India are making great strides toward improving their lives. It was indeed an awesome and moving experience. --John, Sponsor from Florida (photo left)

John's son also went to India. This was his experience:

Although the travel was hard, it was a blessing for me to meet the sisters and children of Infant Jesus Orphanage. I expected an orphanage to be a sad place, but it was, in fact, one of the happiest places I’ve ever been! I found myself wanting to be a part of such a good thing so I told the sisters that I wanted to sponsor two of the children. --Randy, Sponsor from Florida
