We Support Orphanages in India
St. Anthony's Orphanage is a great example of one of 46 homes that we support in India. It is a model orphanage in two respects. First, they take in the most desperate children they can find: children begging on the streets, eating out of trash bins, or abandoned as infants at their gate. Second, they place a strong emphasis on education, encouraging the children to go to college or nursing school.
There are 145 children living at the orphanage and another 70 who are attending college or nursing school elsewhere but who consider St. Anthony’s their home because that is where they grew up and their support still comes from the orphanage. World's Children currently sponsors 77 children living at St. Anthony’s and four students who are in college or nursing school.
